Ik maak 22 foto’s met AI (Artificial Intelligence)

Mijn speurtocht in het maken van foto's met AI.

Kunstmatige intelligentie of artificiële Intelligentie (afgekort AI) maakt al een langere tijd deel uit van ons dagelijks leven. We gebruiken gezichtsherkenning in onze smartphones, antwoorden van chatbots en ga zo maar even door. Omdat je steeds meer AI terug vind in fotobewerkingssoftware was ik benieuwd of ik met behulp van AI ook foto’s kan maken. Zie hier mijn zoektocht en mijn resultaten die ik gemaakt heb.

DALLE-E2 en Photosonic

De meeste mensen hebben inmiddels al wel gehoord van ChatGPT. Je kan hier een vraag stellen en het antwoord wordt voor je uitgetypt. ChatGPT is een onderdeel van OpenAI die voor het maken van foto’s DALLE-E2 heeft om zelf beelden te maken aan de hand van tekst die je intypt.

Na wat proberen en wat zoeken kwam ik terecht op Photosonic waar ik 100 credits heb gekocht om te kijken of het mogelijk is om zo realistisch mogelijke foto te maken met AI.

Adobe Firefly en Midjourney

Adobe heeft een maand geleden Adobe Firefly Beta gelanceerd. Helaas alleen nog op uitnodiging maar dit geeft aan dat we heel anders met foto’s en fotobewerking zullen omgaan. Maar naar mijn mening de beste tool die op dit moment voor iedereen beschikbaar is, is Midjourney. Om je indruk te geven wat deze programma’s kunnen bekijk je deze video.

Mijn eerste pogingen om een realistische foto te maken met AI

Een tekst intypen is niet zo moeilijk dus begon ik eenvoudig met de tekst: Vrouw met Camera

Wel een mooie afbeelding maar nog ver van realistisch. Bijzondere vingers en er lijken haren aan de camera te groeien.

Ik dacht missschien moet ik de tekst wat gedetailleerder maken. Ik probeer een nieuwe zoekterm; Girl on a skateboard with backlight. Ook hier rare vervormingen en het lijkt verre van een dame op een skateboard. Ik heb precies dezelfde tekst nog een paar keer gebruikt om te kijken wat er dan uitkomt. Wel beter maar nog steeds een vreemde afbeeding.

Het gemak waarmee ik anderen foto’s zag maken met AI lijkt voor mij nog niet al te gemakkelijk. Maar ik ga door om te kijken of ik een realistische foto kan maken met AI. Ik besluit even een compleet andere zoekterm te gebruiken. Ik ga aan de slag met het Thema van de Get The Picture Challenge van deze maand; Mijn Schuur, Garage of Opberghok. Ik ga verschillende pogingen laten zien met de ingetypte tekst om de foto te maken. Per foto pas ik de tekst aan.

Ik ben inmiddels 10-tallen pogingen verder (die tel ik even niet mee) maar een opberghok, garage of schuur met fietsen erin lijkt iets te hoog gegrepen voor AI. Poging 8 komt nog het beste over. Ik ga een aantal nieuwe pogingen doen maar dan de tekst meer gericht op een fotostudio. Dit zijn mijn resultaten met bijbehorende teksten;

Poging 10, 11 en 12 lijken wat realistischer. Maar eigenlijk wil toch kijken of een ik realistisch mens op de foto kan krijgen. Ik ga verder met de volgende teksten om deze foto’s maken;

Wat maakt het dat het mij niet lukt om een realistische foto te maken met AI? Miscchien moet ik mijn tekst aanpassen zonder al te veel atributen maar zoeken naar een eenvoudigere afbeelding.

Conclusie

De eerste stappen om foto’s te maken zijn in gang gezet. Maar we zijn er nog lang niet. Ik vind poging nummer 20 het meest realistische resultaat geven. Het heeft met vele factoren te maken. Het ingeven van de juiste tekst kan de foto maken of kraken. Ik ben erg benieuwd naar Firefly van Adobe. Je kan dan ook je eigen foto’s kiezen om foto’s te maken. Dan krijgt AI voor mij een extra laag. Je kan dan nieuwe beelden maken met je eigen materiaal.

Ik ben erg benieuwd of jij al hebt geëxperimenteerd met AI. Laat weten hoe jij denkt over fotografie en AI laat een reactie achter!

    Nog niet geëxperimenteerd met AI;
    Vind het al moeilijk genoeg om mooie portretten te maken en te editen 😉

    Heel gaaf! Ik ben zelf aan t experimenteren met Dall.E, maar dan vanuit eigen foto’s. Erg leuk om te doen.
